Exempt Job Purpose The Assistant Controller will plan, direct, and coordinate the accounting operations.
This includes general journal entries, reconciliations, timely and accurate processing of financial reports, management and development of accounting staff, setting standards for processes and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities Leads the accounting department which includes accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, and payroll Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
Oversees the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.
Prepares cash flow report Review Balance Sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis Recommends benchmarks that will be used to measure the companys performance.
Produces the annual budget and forecasts; reports significant budget differences to management.
Provides financial analysis, with emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
Works with external auditors and provides needed information for the annual audit.
Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
