PHARMACY TECHNICIAN


POSITION SUMMARY

The Pharmacy Technician provides clerical support to the Pharmacy and Finance teams, reviews pharmacy invoices for accuracy, reconciling errors; enters required medication information into Excel spreadsheets; imports medication information into Suncoast from various sources for billing; resolves billing error reports; and maintains effective working relationships with patient care, pharmacy, finance staff, and with other internal and external customers.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:
Arkansas Pharmacy Technician Registration or eligibility (High School diploma or GED or equivalent) with equivalent knowledge and skills.
Experience:
Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (including formulas and import/export features), basic computer skills and excellent data entry skills. Minimum of two years' experience of intensive work with Excel spreadsheets; minimum of one (1) year Pharmacy Technician experience preferred.

Additional Requirements:
Occasional overtime may be required.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Utilizes lists of Over The Counter (OTC) and hospice facility stocked drugs to accurately update and maintain the Chargemaster.
Generates required reports in Suncoast to complete work tasks.
Accurately counts all medications dispensed for each Arkansas Hospice inpatient facility patient monthly, entering this information into the CR8358 Excel Report.
Reports identified Medication Administration Record (MAR) errors to pharmacist for reconciliation.
Imports all CR8358 Excel Reports into Suncoast (AH inpatient facilities, home based, outside facilities, IV information, including any subsequent billings received, etc).
Works error reports following any import into the electronic medical record and works with the preferred drug manager to reconcile as necessary. The credits will need to be coordinated with Finance staff to correct prior to import.
Receives invoices from non-Arkansas Hospice GIP facility pharmacies and compares to patient hospice-covered medication profiles, reconciling discrepancies and providing to coder.
Identifies and obtains missing invoices and information on invoices from non-Arkansas Hospice GIP facilities, reconciles discrepancies, and forwards to A/P clerk for processing.
Enter detailed medication information for non-Arkansas Hospice GIP facilities into a spreadsheet to be imported into Suncoast.
Collect invoices from the IV Companies and compare to patient hospice-covered medication profiles, reconciling discrepancies and providing spreadsheet to coder, and then to Pharmacy Manager for approval prior to importing into Suncoast. After the invoices are approved, forward to the A/P Clerk for processing.
Coordinates with Finance to release billing when pharmacy issues are reconciled.
Maintains strict confidentiality at all times.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
