Registered Nurse - MHICM (Mental Health Intensive Care Management)

The incumbent is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day provision of mental care and case management services to assigned Veterans, assisting with follow up, alliance building, and liaison with other disciplines, caregivers, family members and community resources. The incumbent works with members of an interdisciplinary screening team in responding to consults for MHICM services. This requires familiarity with the care delivery process and resources. The incumbent assists participants' families and clinical team members in coordinating care in CAVHS and the community and resource referrals if needed, when clinically indicated, and works in unison with the Interdisciplinary Treatment teams in promoting a Patient-Centered culture; assuring that quality health-care services are provided to the Veterans promptly, safely, courteously and compassionately as well as their significant others and/or major stakeholders are appropriately involved. The incumbent provides patient, family, and/or caregiver education and support, as well as actively promotes patient self-management and personal health responsibility. The incumbent is responsible to communicate with all members of the healthcare team on behalf of the patient and has direct involvement with the development and enhancement of processes with the aim to improve the clinical experience for Veterans, families and clinical staff members. The incumbent communicates effectively both orally and in writing with professional, administrative and technical staff at all levels. The incumbent functions as liaison between MHS internal and external resources, including community agencies, guardians, conservators and providers concerning appropriate notifications. The incumbent collaborates and shares information with medical and/or clinical treatment staff members regarding potential improvement in patient care delivery through comparisons to community standards. The incumbent demonstrates effective communication skills and behavior that promotes professional cooperation and team building with internal and external customers. The incumbent shares information to assure continuity and safety in area of assignment and collaborates with co-workers in completing workload. The incumbent generates Treatment Plans and participates on teams, contributes to team conferences and is actively involved in planning for continuity of Veteran care. The incumbent consults with other healthcare providers to formulate a collaborative plan of care. The incumbent provides education related to the provision of mental health care. The incumbent performs work related to the review, monitoring, analysis, planning and assessment of processes utilized by the MHICM program. The incumbent performs other related duties as assigned. Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant:
The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. OR The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. Bachelor of Science in Nursing A minimum of two years of successful Registered Nurse (RN) Nursing Experience/Clinical Practice. A minimum of two years of successful Mental Health RN Nursing Experience, preferably with Veterans with serious mental illnesses. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification. Demonstrates sound judgment, nursing process and critical thinking skills. Demonstrates ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing. Knowledge of computer systems and standard software programs. Demonstrates skills in managing complex systems, with advanced organizational skills. Knowledge and understanding of Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) regulations/policies/procedures, current Joint Commission (JC) Standards, Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), and other current internal and external accrediting body standards. Demonstrates a pleasant and respectful disposition. Demonstrates the ability to respond in a positive manner with Mental Health Intensive Case Management Veterans. Grade Determinations:

Nurse I Level I - An Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, with no additional nursing practice/experience required. Nurse I Level II - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 1 year of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor's degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience; OR a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) with no additional nursing practice/experience. Nurse I Level III - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a BSN with approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing (MSN) or related field with a BSN and no additional nursing practice/experience. This position requires visual acuity (including depth perception), keen hearing (aide permitted), clear distinctive speech, and manual dexterity in both hands. This position requires potentially long periods of continued walking (2-4 hours), standing (2-6 hours), stooping, sitting, bending, pulling (1-2 hours), pushing (1-2 hours), lifting (>50 pounds), and carrying (>50 pounds). Transferring patients and objects may be required. Mechanical inpatient lifts are provided. The incumbent may be exposed to infected patients and contaminated materials and may be required to don protective clothing in isolation situations, operative/invasive procedures, or home settings. The incumbent may be exposed to patients who are combative secondary to delirium, dementia, or psychiatric disorders. Ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously. The incumbent must be a mature, flexible, sensible individual capable of working effectively in stressful situations, able to shift priorities based on patient needs. Must complete annual Employee Health requirements, such as annual TB screening or testing, as a condition of employment. Must be able to work closely with others, as well as protracted or irregular hours of work. Must be compliance with the use of ergonomic exercises and employee safety requirements.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
