Nurse (Assistant Nurse Manager-Telecare)

The Telecare ANM provides compassionate and safe healthcare through telecommunication, working in collaboration with Providers and other Disciplines to maintain continuity of patient care, wellness and customer satisfaction. The Telecare ANM is a self-directed professional Registered Nurse who uses the nursing process and evidence-based practice to meet the needs, questions or concerns of the Veteran, their representative, Visitors and VA staff. The selected ANM will support the Nurse Manager by providing coverage, assisting with staffing needs and providing feedback for staff evaluations. The ANM may respond to a variety of calls ranging from calls from other healthcare facilities, request for appointments or medication refills, request for information or requests from ill or injured Veterans seeking medical assistance. The Telecare ANM will respond to each call appropriately, assisting with the navigation of the health care system and intervenes or refers as appropriate to facilitate the achievement of patient outcomes. Telecare calls may range in length from 3 to 30 minutes for determination of the callers need(s), evaluation and appropriate response and documentation of encounter. The Telecare RN/ANM is also responsible for responding to emergent needs within VISN16 as they arise (hurricanes/storms, call center closures, etc.) and for providing nurse advice via additional modalities as implemented (secure messaging, Video Telehealth, chat). This is a working Assistant Nurse Manager position and the expectation is that 50% (or greater) time will be spent providing clinical advice to veterans/callers. Other duties include, but are not limited to the following:
1. Providing backup management coverage within Telephone Operations team (RNs/Operators/MSAs) 2. Assisting with calls, staffing, and resource management during system malfunctions or natural disasters. 3. Assisting with Vulnerable Patient Contacts when activated Work Schedule:

Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant:
The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. OR The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. (Reference VA Handbook 5005, Appendix G6) OR In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of a current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement for graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) or a Bachelor's degree in a related field with an Associate's Degree or Diploma in Nursing. Two (2) years of recent professional (RN) nursing experience. Board certification from a VA approved certifying body. Experience in Ambulatory Care or Primary Care Nursing Telephone Triage/Clinical Contact Center experience Grade Determinations:
The following criteria must be met in determining the grade assignment of candidates, and if appropriate, the level within a grade:
Nurse I Level I - An Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, with no additional nursing practice/experience required. Nurse I Level II - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 1 year of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor's degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience; OR a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) with no additional nursing practice/experience. Nurse I Level III - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a BSN with approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing (MSN) or related field with a BSN and no additional nursing practice/experience. Nurse II - A BSN with approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 2-3 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing or related field with a BSN and approximately 1-2 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Doctoral degree in nursing or meets basic requirements for appointment and has doctoral degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience required. Nurse III - Master's degree in nursing or related field with BSN and approximately 2-3 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Doctoral degree and approximately 2-3 year's of nursing practice/experience. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
